YWCA St. Paul Blood Drive

On Tuesday, March 29, 2022, YWCA St. Paul will host a blood drive with the American Red Cross from 12:00 pm to 6:00 pm inside our Health & Fitness Center Selby Studio.

Red blood cells carry markers called antigens on their surface that determine one’s blood type. There are more than 600 known antigens besides A and B, and certain blood types are unique to specific racial and ethnic groups. Therefore, it is essential that donor diversity matches patient diversity. People with sickle cell disease and these rare blood types rely on blood donors who are Black when they need a transfusion.

While the need for blood donations specifically from African Americans or those of African descent is critical right now for helping those with sickle cell disease, donations are always open to any person eligible to give.

Register to donate here.
