HFC to Open June 17, 2020

We miss you and hope you, your family and your loved ones are safe and healthy.

During the time we’ve been closed, we’ve heard from many of you. We know the important role the Health and Fitness Center (HFC) plays in your life. We know it supports your physical health, but we also know there is true community among many of our members, and the social, mental, and emotional support that community provides is important. We are happy to be able to welcome you back soon.

As we plan our re-opening, the health and safety of our members and staff is our top priority, and has guided our decisions during this time, including the preparation of the fitness center for a safe reopening.

We will begin our ‘phased’ re-opening on June 17th at 8:00 AM.

Your membership has been on freeze at no charge during our closure due to the pandemic. Effective April 1, we suspended membership dues, and committed to an additional two-week suspension once we re-opened to account for our closure the last two weeks of March. Membership dues will be reactivated effective July 1. We want you to be safe and have peace of mind as you return to use the HFC. Our re-opening plan complies with State of Minnesota requirements for re-opening gyms and fitness centers by ensuring social distancing (6 ft between persons) and limiting usage to no more than 25% of capacity. The entire HFC will undergo an extensive deep cleaning before reopening. After reopening, we will follow rigorous deep-cleaning and disinfecting protocols to enhance safety. Our team is receiving extensive training on the new processes and protocols. At least initially, we will have shorter hours of operation to ensure time for deep cleaning.

Our current plan for the phased re-opening, along with safety precautions, is outlined below. We may adjust these plans if CDC and/or State guidance changes.

Safety measures may continue to evolve, but you should expect the following as we reopen:

  • Team members equipped with spray bottles of hospital grade disinfectant for regular cleaning of all high-touch surfaces throughout the day.
  • Comprehensive cleaning and disinfecting processes in the HFC each evening.
  • Hand sanitizing and cleaning stations throughout the facility that provide disinfecting products for members to apply before and after using equipment.

  • Signage facilitating increased spacing between fitness floor equipment, in locker rooms, and throughout various areas of the club.
  • Requiring reservations for group fitness classes to regulate class sizes, and schedules set to allow for thorough cleaning between classes.
  • Reservations required for all ages in Kids Care to help children practice social distancing and allow for additional cleaning.

  • Before entering the building, each person must answer basic health questions and have their temperature taken.
  • Masks will be required for all staff and members (if you don’t have a mask, we will have masks available for purchase). We recognize masks may need to be temporarily removed in the cardio area.
  • All staff will wear gloves.
  • Hand sanitizer will be available throughout the building.
  • Guidance and reminders for social distancing requirements will be posted throughout the building and staff will be enforcing those guidelines.

Watch for additional information coming within the week with further detail on hours and safe re-opening protocols.

We will continue to provide virtual personal training and virtual fitness classes for those of you not yet ready to return to the gym. More information on these offerings will follow.

We are all navigating new challenges during this difficult time. Our goal is to be flexible and to adjust as circumstances change or as we find better ways to accomplish our safety goals. Your feedback will be important; please let us know if there are changes we can make to improve your experience.

Please be safe, and we look forward to seeing you soon.
