2020 Census Deadlines Extended

There’s still time to make sure you are counted. Over half of American households have submitted responses to the 2020 Census – including 70% of Minnesotan households. In order to collect a complete and accurate count for all communities, many deadlines for the 2020 Census have been extended to ensure the health and safety of the public and Census Bureau employees.

Households began receiving census response instructions by mail in mid-March. Self-responses can be completed by mail, phone or online through October 31. Beginning in August, census takers will begin field interviews to collect information from households that have not responded. Visit 2020census.gov for the full list of dates and activities.

Let us help keep everyone safe during this current health crisis by minimizing the need to send census takers out into the community. When you receive your invitation, submit your census response online, by phone or by mail.

If you have already completed the census, talk to your friends, family, and coworkers about submitting their census response online. Make sure that your community is not missing out on crucial resources, like federal funding and U.S. House of Representative seats.
